Private GP Consultations at Northwest Health
Seeing a private GP means being heard properly — without the time pressure of a ten-minute NHS appointment. We offer five ways to consult with one of our GMC-registered GPs, designed around your schedule, your circumstances, and your clinical needs.
A £25 prepayment is taken at booking and fully deducted from your consultation fee.

Telephone Consultation — £50
A 10–15 minute call with a GMC-registered GP, designed to give you fast, professional medical advice from wherever you are. No travel, no waiting room.
Best for: new non-urgent symptoms that don't need an examination, routine prescriptions for stable medications, sick notes (Med 3 / fit notes), referral letters, follow-ups after blood tests or scans, general health advice, travel health questions, and mental wellbeing conversations about low mood, stress, or sleep.
How it works: book online or by phone, complete a brief pre-consultation form, and your GP will call you at the booked time. Any agreed documents are sent securely to you and your nominated pharmacy or specialist afterwards.
If your concern needs hands-on examination, your GP will say so during the call and arrange an in-person appointment.
Video Consultation — £80
A 10–15 minute appointment with a GMC-registered GP via secure encrypted video link, accessible from any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Ideal when seeing your GP — and being seen back — adds real value to the conversation.
Best for: skin concerns (rashes, lesions, moles, suspected infections), eye or mouth issues, visible swellings, mental wellbeing conversations where face-to-face contact is more reassuring, reviewing scans or letters together on screen, follow-up appointments after a previous in-person visit, and routine prescriptions or sick notes where a visual check helps.
How it works: book online or by phone, complete a brief pre-consultation form, and you'll receive a secure video link by email or text. At the booked time, click the link from any device with a working camera and microphone.
In-person Silver — 15 min — £80
A 15-minute face-to-face consultation at our Northwest Health clinic, in a calm, fully private setting.
Best for: new symptoms that benefit from a hands-on examination — chest, abdomen, joints, ears, throat; suspicious lumps, swellings, or skin lesions; joint or musculoskeletal pain where examination informs diagnosis; children, older patients, or anyone less suited to remote care; pre-operative or pre-employment medicals; follow-up reviews after blood tests, scans, or screens.
How it works: book online or by phone. On arrival, you'll be welcomed at reception and your GP will see you in a private consulting room.
In-person Gold — 30 min — £120
A 30-minute face-to-face consultation for patients who need more time.
Best for: multiple concerns that wouldn't fit comfortably into 15 minutes; complex medical history where a full review takes longer; reviewing test or scan results in detail and planning next steps; mental health and wellbeing reviews where conversation needs space; hormonal, fertility, or gynaecological concerns; long-term condition reviews — diabetes, hypertension, asthma, thyroid; pre-operative or pre-employment medicals; new patients wanting a thorough baseline conversation.
In-person Platinum — 60 min — £200
A 60-minute face-to-face consultation for the most comprehensive in-clinic review we offer.
Best for: new symptoms with overlapping or complex concerns; multi-system medical histories; in-depth preventative health discussions; second opinions on complex diagnoses or treatment plans; full medication reviews and rationalisation; complex hormonal, gynaecological, or men's health consultations; in-depth pre-operative assessments; any consultation where unhurried time genuinely changes the quality of care.
What's included in every consultation

Clinical history, examination (where in-person), and advice
Secure clinical record-keeping
Onward signposting to scans, blood tests, or specialist referral
Documents — charged separately at £20 each

Sick note (Med 3 / fit note)
Referral letter to a specialist or for private investigations
Other written documents (travel letters, fitness-to-work confirmation)
You'll only be charged for the documents you actually need — your GP will confirm with you before issuing anything.
Our prescribing policy — please read before booking
We are happy to issue private prescriptions where clinically appropriate, within a clear policy:
We do not prescribe:
Controlled drugs of any schedule
Opioid painkillers (including codeine, tramadol, morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, and similar)
Benzodiazepines and Z-drugs (such as diazepam, lorazepam, zolpidem, zopiclone)
ADHD stimulant medications (such as methylphenidate, lisdexamfetamine, dexamfetamine)
If your needs include any of the above, our service is not the right fit and we will not be able to help. We will signpost you to your NHS GP or appropriate specialist services.
Routine prescribing of stable, lower-risk medications is available where clinically appropriate. Repeat prescribing of long-term medications usually requires sight of your NHS records to ensure safe and accurate continuation of care.
This policy is in place for patient safety and in line with GMC prescribing guidance.
When private GP care isn't appropriate
Private GP appointments are not suitable for medical emergencies, severe chest pain, suspected stroke, severe breathing difficulties, severe mental health crises, or any life-threatening symptoms.
In an emergency, call 999 or attend your nearest A&E.
For urgent symptoms needing assessment within hours, contact NHS 111.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, contact NHS 111 (option 2) or Samaritans on 116 123.
Children and identity
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for any appointment, including remote consultations. Photo ID may be requested at first appointments to verify identity, particularly for remote consultations and where prescriptions are issued.
Confidentiality
All consultations and records are handled in strict confidence in line with GMC guidance and UK data protection law. We do not share information with your NHS GP or any third party unless you ask us to — except where a legal duty applies (for example, safeguarding concerns or certain notifiable conditions), which we will always discuss with you first wherever it is safe to do so.
